The necropolis
In this necropolis are about 6,000 graves, of every shape and size, many of which completely painted with decorations that are the most complete documentation of the wonders of Etruscan painting.
There is no book of art that can not remember the Tomb of the Panthers, the Bulls, Hunting and Fisheries, Greetings, Leonesse, the Baron, Giocolieri, Hunter, Fustigazione, Leopardi, Sow black of shields, that dell'Orco with the sweet image of Velia Velcha (the "monna Lisa" of antiquity) and
only last in order of discovery that of Demons blue
Great is the wonder nell'entrare painted in the tombs of Tarquinia: banquet scenes, musicians, dancers, jugglers all seem to want to forcefully send un'allegria, a different conception of death, to be viewed with greater serenity, as an event inevitable that unites us and sweeps everything and everybody
The museum
collects thousands of artefacts displayed in chronological order: vases and objects villanoviani, ceramics Etruscan and Greek masterpieces with unique, sarcophagi and bronzes, jewelry and sculptures, votive and coins.
There are also four recomposed chamber tombs whose paintings were at the time "ripped" with modern technology by ancient hypogea |
